Equipped with Ludicrous Mode and smashing riders back into their seats with a jarring zero to sixty acceleration of 2.6 seconds, Tesla’s Model S P90DL offered a luxury sports car feel that pleased (and occasionally unnerved) drivers throughout its manufacturing years of 2015-2018. Discontinued in favor of the performance models in the 100 trim line, the P90DL is a highly sought after trim of used Model S Tesla vehicles due to its novel driving experience and innovative design.
Wheels certainly received a regular workout with the P90DL, and buyers on the hunt for a used P90DL should pay close attention to the condition of the tires and rims. The 19” base wheel design came standard, but aesthetic upgrades in the 19” category were available in Cyclone, Tempest, and Slipstream (in Sonic Carbon or Silver) designs. The 21” option, offering more grip and better handling for those wishing to exploit their Ludicrous mode to the fullest, were available in Turbine (in Silver and Gray) and Twin Turbine (in Silver and Sonic Carbon) designs, as well as Arachnid (in Silver and Black).
Hardware capability for Tesla’s Autopilot software for driving assistance was included in every year of the P90DL. Autopilot 1.0 could be purchased with the first iteration of the P90DL in 2015. Autopilot versions 2.0 and 2.5 followed in 2016 and 2017, with Full Self Driving and Enhanced Autopilot Software available for purchase after 2016.
Luxury-feel dash options for the P90DL came in the timeless Piano Black, sporty Carbon Fiber, and sophisticated Wood designs (Glossy and Matte Obeche, Lace, and Dark and Figured Ash). Multi-Pattern Textile or Nappa Leather seating choices were available in all Model S trims from 2015-2018, and Vegan Leather was added by 2016.
Paint colors on the P90DL included Metallics in Blue and Green (2015), Titanium (2015, 2016), and throughout all years in Silver, Obsidian Black, Deep Blue, and Midnight Silver. Solid White (available on models 2015 and 2016), Solid Black (all years), and Multi-Coat paints in Pearl White and Red gave classic visual appeal to the sleek design of the Model S P90DL.
