Launching from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.28 seconds according to traditional testing methods, the P100DL sedan is the Ludicrous-mode enabled offering in the 100 trim line of Tesla’s Model S. Drivers and passengers could expect up to 1.1g of force when flooring the accelerator. Speed and performance put the race-ready P100DL into production sport car headlines after its manufacturing debut in 2016.
The P100DL was hardware capable for Autopilot, Tesla’s famous driver’s assistance system. With hardware installed for AP1 (2016), AP2 (2016-2018), AP2.5 (2017-2019), and AP3 (2019) the Model S P100DL could be purchased with Autopilot, Enhanced Autopilot, or Full Self Driving packages during its years of manufacture.
All Black was the interior of choice through all model years of the P100DL. Ultra White, offered in 2017, replaced Gray and was only offered during that year. Cream and Black and White replaced Tan as options in the years 2018 and 2019. Dash customizations for the P100DL included Piano Black, Carbon Fiber, and various Wood designs (Oak in 2019, Dark and Figured Ash, Lace, and Matte and Glossy Obeche). Synthetic Vegan Leather joined Nappa Leather and Multi-Pattern textile as a seating option in 2016, with Vegan Leather becoming the only option for seating in the P100DL by 2018.
Early exterior Metallic paints on the P100DL included Obsidian Black and Silver from 2016 to 2018. Titanium Metallic and Solid White were only available in 2016, and the 2019 Model S P100DL was limited to earlier paint offerings of Deep Blue Metallic, Midnight Silver Metallic, Red Multi-Coat, Pearl White Multi-Coat, and Solid Black.
Wheel options on the P100DL included sporty 21” wheel options for better handling and grip (important features for drivers looking to test Ludicrous mode whenever possible) and came in Turbine (in Silver and Gray), Twin Turbine (in Silver and Sonic Carbon), and Arachnid (in Silver and Black) designs. The base 19” wheel design, along with additional options in Tempest, Slipstream (in Silver and Sonic Carbon), and Cyclone, reportedly offered better wear and protection thanks to the thicker tire.
